The Art of the Beach to Dinner Look

The Art of the Beach to Dinner Look

You don't need two wardrobes for two moments. You just need the right pieces — and the confidence to move between them.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about transitional dressing. It's a huge part of my life as an entrepreneur, surfer, bonus mom and partner. (Not to mention in my styling work!) It's that moment right after my morning surf or when the sun softens towards the end of the day and the question becomes — do I go back to the house and start over, or do I work with what I've got?

For me, the answer is almost always the latter. Partly because I hate losing momentum. Partly because I think there's something genuinely beautiful about a look that carries the day on it — a little salt, a little sun, the easy confidence of someone who has already lived fully before the larger part of the day even starts.

ARIKO was born from exactly this tension. I wanted to build a line that could handle both sides of the day without apology. And after two years of wearing these pieces myself, here's how I actually do the beach to life transition — honestly, and practically.

START WITH YOUR BASE

The bikini is your foundation — and it shouldn't disappear at lunch or dinner. In California, in summer, there is nothing more effortless than a great swimsuit worn as a top under something open and intentional. Our Bucky Leopard Camo jacket is the piece I reach for most. It's bold enough to read as a style choice, relaxed enough that it doesn't fight the fact that you just came from the water.

Throw it over your bikini top, pull on the Denim Day Mini Skirt or the Day Pants depending on the vibe of the evening, and you already have the bones of something that works.

THE ACCESSORIES DO THE HEAVY LIFTING

This is where the look actually transforms. A pair of earrings — something with weight to it — and a sandal with a slight heel signals immediately that this is an intentional outfit, not an afterthought. I keep a small pouch in my beach bag for exactly this reason: earrings, a lip stain and a hair clip. That's all it takes.

The Surf Trucker Hat works for the beach or afterwards. Leave it on or in the bag at dinner. Let your hair down, literally, and the whole energy shifts. REAL beach hair is the best. I get the most compliments on my hair when I do nothing to it after some time in the ocean.

THE PIECES I'M WEARING ON REPEAT THIS SUMMER

The Bucky Leopard Camo Jacket — the one piece that does more work than anything else in the ARIKO line right now. It's a cover-up, a statement layer, and an evening jacket all at once.

The Denim Day Mini Skirt — the response to that very question: what do I put on after the beach? This is it. It sits perfectly and goes with everything.

The Beach Crop T-shirt — for when the jacket and bikini feels like too much. Clean, simple, endlessly versatile.

The Day Pants — the elevated option. Wear them with the Post Surf Crew Sweatshirt on cooler evenings and you've got something that works from Ventura to anywhere.

The beach to dinner look isn't about trying harder. It's about choosing smarter — pieces that were built for exactly this kind of day. That's always been the idea behind ARIKO, and this summer, I think we're finally living it fully.

As ever, I'd love to hear how you style your ARIKO pieces. Drop me a line at ariel@ariko-la.com. 🌊
